Movin' and Groovin'

It's another Jersey weekend, which meant 5 hours navigating I-90 > I-84 > I-91 > Merritt > 287 W > GSP > NJTPK > 295 last night. We have made the drive so many times now that it feels automatic. One of my least favorite parts of the drive is the slow loss of radio reception as we leave the Boston and Worcester behind. Last night, I struggled to follow the Red Sox game on about 4 different channels, enduring static and dead spots, only to hear them lose 7-6. And that's not even the worst part--after the Sox lost, I subjected myself to the Fan! (WFAN 660 AM) for the final 2 hours of the drive. Nothing makes a drive take forever like listening to Rangers and Knicks talk on NY sports radio.

We rolled into chez Baba and Tita at around 12:30. The transition into sleep was a smooth one; Andres had no problems snuggling in, and even Celia was content to fall asleep after a couple minutes of fussing. A couple years ago, when Andres was Celia's age, we had some horrific nights after driving down...he would stay up for hours after we arrived, depriving both of his parents of any real sleep at all. I was worried that Celia would fall into the same pattern but this does not seem to be the case...she's an easier sleeper, and seldom tries to fight it like her brother used to.

Today was an easy day. Everyone went shopping this morning, giving me a chance to catch up on a few hours of work that I had neglected since Wednesday. Celia and Andres came home around lunchtime (each with a new pair of sneakers), and when Celia went down for her nap, Andres relaxed and watched WALL-E. (Side note: I love that movie. In the first 30 minutes it expresses so much without so much as 5 intelligible words being said; it reminds me a lot of both E.T. and Star Wars, which relied heavily on visual storytelling. I could watch it all day without becoming bored.)

A spring deluge prevented us from going outside after the movie ended so Andres and I made due with a ball and a living room. It's amazing how many games you can play with only one ball...soccer, basketball, "throw-ball", "punch-ball" (not very hard to figure out the rules of these last two), etc. Miraculously, no picture frames or LED TVs were harmed during the play of any of these games.

What could go wrong with a face like that?
The games continued after dinner. With an audience including his grandparents, sister, uncle, aunt, and aunt's boyfriend, Andres wowed us with his Wii Zumba dancing skills. (Yes, more of this.) He's a pretty good dancer for being only 3 years old...I give him a lot of credit for trying all the different moves. He's certainly much better than me, though that is not saying much. Celia had a good time watching him too.

Shakin' it!
This move was featured in Step Up 2: The Streets.
Still a couple years away from taking her own turn.
