Happy Birthday!

Today is a special day--it is Natalia's birthday! I won't spill the beans about how old she is...suffice it to say that she still looks like she is in her mid-20s despite being married to me for 6 years and having had two kids, so that must count for something.

Her birthday crept up on all of us this year, I think. Normally May 1 is a big day around here, as it announces the beginning of her special month...but this year that date came and went so quickly, and today (as I write this) I looked up and saw that it was May 26. Where did the month go?

Anyway, I did get the kid(s) to sing happy birthday:



Then I asked them what their mama did to make them laugh. Not sure Andres understood the question...but he gave his stock answer, which includes his own funny face. Celia seemed unimpressed.



To celebrate the big day, we'll meet Natalia for ice cream after school (she does get a field trip to Fenway Park, which could be a lot of fun or a giant headache, depending on your perspective) and then give her some presents. Astute readers will notice that I said that May 27th crept up on all of us this year...so you can imagine that applied to my gift purchasing as well. And the rumor is true: retailers do love a guy who is shopping at the last possible minute.

So to my number 1 reader (and wife): happy birthday! We love you very much. Enjoy your day!
