Like Old Times

I've been away from the blog for a long time, but it's not really for a lack of subject matter--it's just a question of time. Sadly, I have also fallen short in my role as family photographer for the same reason. Just as I write a lot of great blog posts in my head (believe me, I have some great ones stored up there), I take great mental pictures too. The only problem with those is that you can't print them out too easily.

I did grab my camera tonight and caught a few frames of Andres and Lucia in the bath. I was going to let the moment pass without photography, but Lucia started cracking her older brother on the head--and when they both started cracking up, I knew there would be some good pictures to be had. They played more responsibly once I had all my gear out, but I think I got some that captured their relationship pretty well.

It's amazing to me how much Andres lets Lucia get away with. Celia can't so much as touch him without getting tackled in return; Lucia can hit him over the head with a plastic toy, and he just laughs. He loves her so much. He used to love Celia in the same way, before she learned how to talk and negotiate. Andres is the sun, the moon, and the stars to Lucia. It's nice to capture some of these moments now because I know that it will not always be thus.

Two hams.
She's the boss.
Trouble coming my way.
Best friends.
This last one reminded me of a shot I took a couple years back. Wow--Andres definitely looks older now, even though his hair and expression are similar in both pictures. His sisters are lucky to have him.

When we were young.
