The Marathon

We headed over to Comm Ave to watch some of the Boston Marathon today. Unlike last year, we managed to arrive early enough to see the leaders of every division. That was cool; they go by very, very fast.

But while last year's marathon took place on a relatively nice day, today was cold and rainy, and a few members of our party had ignored their parents' advice to wear multiple layers. It became quite clear, after only a few minutes, that we would not be hanging around for too long.

Poor Celia. She looked frozen solid. I tried to get her to clap for the racers to stay warm, but the more I asked the less she listened. We watched the first pack of women's runners race through, followed by the men a short while later. And that was it--time for our own marathon sprint back to the car, and some much-needed heat.

Andres flashes a smile before it got too cold.
Celia gets cheeky.
A wheelchair racer zooms by.
Lots of women were still in contention when the lead pack passed us.
We left shortly after the elite men passed by.
