Some pics from recital season...

The dancing queen.
As this was Lucia's first dance recital, nobody really knew what to expect. She was happy enough to get all dolled up (Will she ever wear this dress again? Hopefully not), but when it was actually time to put on the show she didn't do a whole lot of dancing. She poked at her for a bit; then she seemed to eat her hand. Thankfully I did catch one picture in which it looked like she was doing something dance-related.
This morning, I showed Lucia the pictures I had taken and asked her about what she was doing. "My ear was itchy," she said. Good answer, I guess. And the hand? "I don't know."

The grand finale.
Celia gave a more professional performance. She was on stage twice--one for jazz, and one for hip-hop.
|
All business.
Celia's always been comfortable on stage. She will sometimes say that she is nervous beforehand, but you'd never know that by watching her. She's calm and collected when the bright lights are on. It's really fun to watch her dance, too.

Hip hoppin'.
So that was all
last Saturday. This
past Saturday, we drove up to Melrose for a feis that Celia's Irish step dance school was hosting. Her good friend Clare was dancing too, which added to the fun.

Soft shoeing.
It's funny--Celia will Irish step all around the house, but when asked which dance she likes most, she'll say hip hop. Mainly I think she just likes to move to music.
In this feis, she won a few second and third place medals, though there was some ambiguity about which medals represented what. She was actually more excited for Clare, who won a couple first place medals, than she was about her own achievements.
