Good Friends, Part II

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And we've been seeing a lot of imitation around here lately--Celia does almost everything her brother does, down to copying him when he is repeating every word that we are saying. That makes for some fun conversations.

Me: "Eat your chicken nuggets or no dessert!"
Andres (giggling): "Eat your chicken or no dessert!"
Celia (wagging her finger and not giggling): "Eat chicken nug NO dessert!"

It's the same deal at bathtime. They still enjoy hopping in the tub together, and I'm inclined to let that continue for as long as possible since the bath confines them to a small space where they can do limited damage. Usually.

Tonight, Andres was dumping water on Celia's head which, naturally, she loved. (Had the roles been reversed, I'm not sure he would have been all smiles.) We asked him to try dumping water on his own head, knowing full well that he wouldn't do it. Until he did:

So of course, Celia had to try the same thing--except she couldn't quite bring the bucket up to her head, and ended up dumping water into her mouth (this being a violation of Bath Rule #1: Don't Drink the Water, which Celia can recite but can not obey). But no matter...she was laughing anyway, trying to be just like her brother.

Then bedtime came. Due to the earlier excitement, it was decided that both kids would hit the hay at the same time; it was getting late and it was time for some peace and quiet in the house. So we read some books together and then, when it was time to hop into bed, Celia announced that she wanted to go into brother's bed. "No crib," she said. Andres was all too happy to oblige and the two of them piled in like they had been doing this for years.

I expected there to be much rambunctiousness--but none happened. Andres came out once asking for socks. Then, about 20 minutes later, Celia emerged asking for her blankie. But on both occasions they snuggled back in (granted, under stern warnings that if they didn't sleep I would remand Celia to her crib) and, as of 11 pm, are sleeping soundly 3 inches apart.
