Smorgasbord

Some videos from today for your viewing pleasure.

In our conversations about the planets, Andres has been asking questions about where people came from. Naturally he's having a hard time understanding evolution but I've explained it to him well enough that, as of a few days ago, he thought that we were all animals a few years ago, and we recently turned into people. I was trying to get him to explain this idea in this video--but I didn't ask the right question, and I didn't want to confuse the poor kid even more. I thought his idea about people living on other planets and then coming to Earth was interesting.

Also, I love the "sir" affectation. No idea where he got it from.

Thought I would try to interview Celia next. She didn't seem too interested in me, as her Richard Scarry alphabet book was holding her attention just fine.

She was interested in interviewing her brother, though. Apologies for the camerawork. Ok maybe the best thing to do is press play and then close your eyes.

And a milestone: Andres read for the first time today. He was so thrilled. We couldn't quite believe it. I'm at a loss for words here; he had a grin from ear to ear after he finished the book. Then he read a couple more.

  1. I spit coffee all over my keyboard when Andres came out with the first "sir." I don't mean that in a metaphorical sense, I mean it in the, "oh, crap, I have to clean this up fast" sense.

    1. It still cracks me up. He's so proud of it too--but he's also careful not to overuse it, because he knows it won't be funny anymore if he does.
