Thanksgiving Updates

Well, I've been away from these parts for a long time. A whole year, in fact, judging by my last post. That doesn't mean I haven't thought about writing--it's just that I haven't made time for it, and the longer I stayed away, the more daunting I feared the re-entry would be. It's not that bad. Yet.

Today is Tuesday and this past weekend was Thanksgiving. It was our year to be in NJ, so we did our traditional Wednesday 8pm Waltham departure, arriving in Mt. Laurel at 1am. No traffic, no weather, no problem.

For me, Thanksgiving has two highlights: turkey and a complete lack of presents. It's just a great day to eat and enjoy the company of family and friends.

The kids are decidedly less interested in turkey and mashed potatoes than I am, and for them the highlight was seeing their cousins. They saw them every day we were in NJ and still, when it was time for us to leave on Saturday night, I think they wanted to take Luis and Eva with us. Not wanting to let go is a sign of love, right?

After dinner yesterday, I asked the kids to recap the weekend--what we did, what they enjoyed, favorite memories. Enjoy.

(So, yes, there was some dead mouse drama this Sunday...a poor rodent met its unfortunate end in our backyard. It was a grizzly death, too, as both Lucia and Celia discuss.)
