And she's mobile! (somewhat)

I've become used to Celia being pretty sedentary--she plays on her activity mat and smiles, sits in her rocker and smiles, and smiles when she is being held. So it was a bit of a surprise yesterday when she curled up her feet and her neck and rolled over from her back to her stomach!

While this is hardly momentous, it brought back a lot of memories of when Andres was first starting to roll over. It felt like it took him an eternity. He managed to do it once pretty early on, and then there was a period of about 4 weeks where we just waited, waited, waited for him to repeat the feat, with no luck. He would turn onto his side and kick his legs forward, but he would always leave one arm back for balance--preventing him from flipping over at all. Every shift in momentum was greeted with "He's finally going to do it this time!" only to end with "ok maybe next time...he's getting there." When he finally did start rolling regularly it felt like such a huge step...and yet I look at what he is able to do now and am amazed that it was only a little over 2 years ago that he was where Celia is now.

Sadly, Natalia was out yesterday morning and missed the show. And Celia had a number of repeat performances today while we were hanging out at home (though every time I try to videotape it she just stares at me...I will work on getting video tomorrow). Sometimes she will roll over and get upset right away; other times she will seem very content with what she has done, and push herself up and look around from her new vantage point.

Andres seems to be getting a kick out of Celia's new skill too; he was shouting words of encouragement earlier this evening. And I do mean shouting--the noise scared Celia enough that she started to cry a couple times. They are developing a really nice relationship. It will be interesting to see whether that changes at all when she's mobile enough to start taking his toys!
