Blogging was easy when we had rainy, cold weather earlier this week--but the past few days have been wonderful, so I've stepped away from the computer and enjoyed the great outdoors once again. In addition to yesterday being Easter, it was also a great day for our first real family hike.
Powered by a gigantic post-church brunch of juice and pancakes (he literally had as much to eat as I did), Andres had tons of energy for our jaunt. We stayed local, driving to Stonehurst (the very same Stonehurst where Natalia and I got married 6 years ago) and meandering through the woods and trails behind there. It was a perfect location...close, easily navigable paths for all of us, and just the right amount of walking before we were carrying 2 kids, instead of just 1.
Here we are at the beginning of the hike, when everyone had a lot of energy.
Then we looked for some frogs and turtles but couldn't find any.
We saw a few other families on our way--Andres was most interested in the families that had dogs with them as well. And despite our best efforts we did not see any naturally-occurring wildlife, like squirrels ("squi-lulz" in Andres-speak) or interesting birds. We hiked for a good long time though, and while Celia slept in the Bjorn, Andres and Natalia hiked down steep hills and navigated rushing rivers successfully. We also took an important snack break, as seen here:
We finally made it back to the car and Andres conked out in the back seat on our drive home (Celia was more than happy to continue her nap as well).
